Ancient Cities is a survival and strategy city builder based on ancient times. It is currently being developed by UncasualGames. Starting in the Neolithic era you will have to guide your people through generations, discovering and improving technologies, managing resources and population, facing your human or natural enemies, and ultimately, building the most fantastic city of antiquity in a fully simulated world and ecosystem. When released, the game will be available on Steam for Windows. Other platforms to be determined.
We love tech, strategy games, History, Archeology and cities. Of course, we dream, as you do, with a gorgeous strategy city simulator that can let the player develop its city through the ages in a credible and immersive way. We have chosen to start at the origin of cities, in the late Neolithic era. It was logic, and it is also highly suitable for the project; new eras introduce new gameplay and game features over what existed before. Just as real life. We are developing our own custom render technology for this game because this allows us to render what we envision: Thousands of items on the screen at the same time with nice fps, offering the player breathtaking images of their cities. Both, gameplay and detail are important to us. We are presenting you our first game. And depending to a great extent on the budget, we intend to include late Neolithic and Bronze age in the final release. We expect Ancient Cities to become a powerful platform for next developments, moving us more and more into the realms of History, exploring different places and ages around the world with you: Greece, Rome or Middle Ages... For this to become a reality we need your support on this first project. We know you will love this as much as we do.
All meaningful for gameplay!

- Switchable gameplay layers like combat or natural disasters. Play your game!
- Organic city layouts let you plan and build your city in a realistic way

The base game has been funded on Kickstarter so we can continue development!
We want to say thank you to all the people who did this possible, backing or spreading!
But many people missed the opportunity to bake us, due the short time spam of the campaign, and were asking us for some way to contribute or reach beta acess.
So we decided to open a indiegogo campaign to extend crowfunding period.
Better funding means a better game.
Now you can support this game on:
We are also working on a paypal solution.
Please, stay tuned for news.
What if I already backed the game in the previous Kickstarter campaign?
Then you already backed the game and we thank you again ;)
You DO NOT need to back again.
If you backed as Citizen on KS, any extra funding achieved in indiegogo will improve the game, and your gameplay experience as well.
If you backed as Chief, Lord, Shaman or Deity on KS, you will be granted with all expansions unlocked in indiegogo as well.
If you have any question, please don't hesitate to contact us.
There is a full Kicstarter FAQ at the bottom of the indiegogo campaing.
There will be multiplayer?
AC uses a player controlled time velocity that does not fit well with multiplayer.
This game is closer to a city builder with strategy elements than it is to a base camp game like AoE.
If the game works very well and we have funding in the future we could consider a spin off, or a multiplayer mode with fixed time, but we will not compromise single player experience in any case.
Multiplayer is not a priority for us at this moment.
There will be combat?
Yes, in the first release there will be combat in the form of raids, but it will be optional.
Can I evolve my city from Neolithic, to Rome, Middle Ages or beyond or can I play with Tenochtitlan?
Not in the first release.
First release will start with a nomadic tribe and cover Neolithic to the Bronze Age start in Atlantic Europe.
If the first release works well and we can continue development we will expand the game to other ages/cultures, step by step.
Will there be modding support for the game?
Not for the first release.
But we know how important modding is for this kind of games, so it will be added later.
What will be the system requirements for this game?
At this stage of development is too early to say, still lots of optimizations are needed, and lots of features are going to be added.
The game already provides a full range of typical quality configurations though.
Currently i5 CPU and not too old discrete 2GB GPU is the actual minimum for low settings and for medium map size, but this may change a lot.
We will know actual minimum requirements near the final release
Integrated GPU are not going to be officially supported.
Will there be Linux or Mac version?
Only Windows version is planned at this moment.
Other platforms are to be determined in the future if they have commercial sense for us.
When this game will be released?
Release date is planned for late 2018
There will be Early Acess, Alpha or Beta?
Early Acess is not planed and alpha will be closed.
We think alpha is a development stage, not a product to sell.
There will be a closed Beta for people who backed the game in kickstarter with the beta access reward.
There is a way to support the game developmet?
After Kickstarter ending there were lots of people asking us for this,
so we have started an indieGogo campaign
We are also working on a paypal solution.
Stay tuned for news.
